Technology and Mental Health: Meeting with Dr. Cristiano Nabuco de Abreu
The use of digital devices by children and young people has been a cause for concern among educators, parents, and family members.
Digital addiction is already a fact that we are dealing with in our daily lives, both in schools and in the family environment.
Warning signs have been observed in recent years, and it is necessary to invite all parents and guardians to a meeting where the topic will be addressed by one of the country’s most renowned experts on technological addiction and mental health.
We invite you all to join us for this meeting with Dr. Cristiano Nabuco de Abreu, a great and unique learning opportunity with one of today’s leading experts on the subject, where we will present and discuss the issues we currently face as educators and parents, as well as learn about the latest scientific research with alarming data and revelations that we can no longer ignore.
The future of our children and young people depends on our decisions, as we are responsible for deliberating on the use of technology. How they will use it, as well as when and how much, is our responsibility. We are talking about the development of skills and competencies that are at stake, in addition to brain and cognitive development, which are particularly affected by the inappropriate and inadvertent use of digital devices. Media education needs to happen at home and at school simultaneously. The conscious use of digital platforms and devices needs to be discussed and guided.
We are very proud and honored by the distinguished presence of this professional, who is highly respected worldwide by government agencies and universities, and who today leads the Matera Association.
The Matera Association is a non-profit organization that emerged as a result of a collective effort by many professionals who have dedicated themselves to raising awareness about the healthy use of digital screens in various fields, such as psychology, medicine, law, and education. Promoting changes toward a healthier integration between humans and technology, in order to seek an approach that values the individual, society, and promotes empowerment and dignity, rather than alienation.
Their mission is to serve as guardians in the digital age, guiding society toward healthier, more constructive, and sustainable practices, while empowering professionals in health, education, and law to lead this transformation.
